Rob Verhagen

Sustainability Director of the OPACKGROUP, Netherlands
Rob Verhagen is the Sustainability Director of the OPACKGROUP. The family owned OPACKGROUP produces customer-specific, flexible high quality packaging and films. The company consists of 7 subsidiaries and 10 production locations. With 730 associates they deliver more than 70.000 tonnes of paper and plastic solutions and prize winning innovations. Rob is currently driving sustainability for the company – but as companies can only progress through cooperation he spends around 50% of his time on driving cooperation and sustainability industry wide. Rob’s expertise to translate external trends to internal strategy is a key enabler for driving sustainability and to connect different partners in the value stream. Rob has a multidisciplinary background and is actively engaged in various sustainability initiatives, both professionally as well as privately. He has a Master’s Degree in Food Science and technology from Wageningen University. In his international career he has worked and lived in the Netherlands, Asia, Belgium and the United Kingdom for i.e. Mars Incorporated. In his last role for MARS he was the global director for health and wellbeing. Rob is an enthusiastic and passionate TEDx speaker. Rob is furthermore active in nature conservation, is co-owner of a small Food Forest and volunteers as a nature guide.
